About Pam

“Changing ourselves in personal ways is hard. Most of the time people do not change much.

And yet, life is fluid, it is change, there is no static ‘self’ or ‘body’. A living organism is a moving system, a process, a flow of life.”

My Approach

We thrive best within relationships that are alive, responsive and reliable. It is in the engaged encounter that practitioner and client form a co-agency for growth and new experience.

I value an approach that invites forward-living energies and develops open, friendly curiosity towards oneself. The Focusing sensibility flavours my work.

My special work interests include, but are not restricted to, bereavement, loss, life crises and transitions. I also work with a variety of other concerns, and with people who wish to explore the sense that more might be possible for their lives. I have had some experience of working with women survivors of domestic abuse.

My Training

My training includes a BA (Hons) degree from the University of Cape Town and a Graduate Diploma in Counselling from the South African College of Applied Psychology. I have also trained in focusing-oriented therapeutic work, and I am accredited as a Focusing-Oriented Professional with the Focusing Institute in New York.

My Professional Journey

I have worked in the fields of historical research, human rights and counselling. Both my counselling work and life's journey are nourished by mindfulness and reflection practices.

Alongside the extraordinary privilege of accompanying people on their personal journeys inward, mosaic-making, gardening, books and the companionship of friends bring me joy and meaning.
